Bird-watching: For the nature enthusiasts, the surrounding forests and the nearby water-bodies are the perfect sports for birdwatching. During winter, various local and migratory birds are seen, which include Purple swamp hen, Barbets, various kingfishers and Robins, etc.

Tagore’s Ashrama : This is a heritage site and the abode of the Kaviguru Rabindranath. Here, classes are still held under the open sky in Amra Kunja. It is a must-visit place for the tourists to understand and experience Tagore’s philosophy towards education and learning.

Rabindra Bhavana Museum : This place contains manuscripts of Tagore’s original works and paintings, a copy of his Nobel medallions, certificates and photographs. A crowd-puller destination.

Upasanaghar and Chatimtala : Traditionally, these are the places for meditation, deeply rooted into history and heritage of Shantiniketan and BiswaBharati University.

Khoai Mela/Shanibarer Haat : This place is a unique market which takes place every Saturday in Khoai. Here, handicraft items are sold along with a chance to see live Baul performances.

Amar Kutir : This place showcases locally made handicraft items, and it is a good place for shopping.

Kankalitala : 3 km away from the property, Kankalitala is one of the major Hindu temples. It is one of the 51Shaktipith and a holy place.

Poush Mela : This festival is the biggest winter attraction in Shantiniketan It takes place in late December, which brings tourists from all over the country.

Bakreshwar : A famous pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva, on the bank of river Bakreshwar, 45 km away from Bolpur. This place has several hot springs where temperature goes up to200 degrees Fahrenheit.

How to Reach:

Rail : The nearest major rail-station is Bolpur-Shantiniketan. From there it is nearly 5 km which takes around 20 minutes to reach by car. The nearest station is Prantik which is 500 meters away from here.

Air : The nearest airport is Dumdum or Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. From there the distance is 166 km and it takes 3 hours to reach by car from there.

Road : From Kolkata, the property is approximately 165 km away and it takes around 3 hours 40 minutes to reach by NH19 and NH114 respectively.

Best Time to Visit

The seasons have their unique flavor and effect here. The scorching sun-rays make summer tough for local people and tourists alike. Monsoon revives the greenery and the dark clouds over vast fields are a scene to behold. Winter is a tourist favorite. The morning sun clears the mists and Poush Mela takes place in this time. The various traditional sweets and unique Bengali cuisines are major tourist-puller too.
