Samthar Homestay is in Samther village of Kalimpong. Kalimpong is a fascinating location with huge number of tourist attractions. This tiny town is located at an attitude of 1200mtrs. It is almost 50km away from the east Darjeeling. Kalimpong is a overflowing town. Framing of crops like rice, corn, millets and seasonal vegetables are done. The vast district is known for cultivation of spices like ginger, turmeric, cardamom.
Kalimpong can be a great location for visiting in North Bengal. There are lots of tourist attracting places like Pedong, Charkhole, lava nearby the place. Some of the architectures here are from the British era. Those building still remain in their typical style. A little deeper into Kalimpong is a small village. At an elevation of 144mts. Isolated yet wide open to nature. A place called Samthar a small heaven. The place is famous for trekking also. Samthar is known for its exceptional view of snowline. Over here on a small hill top is the Samthar Homestay.
The homestay is situated in kalimpong district block 1, West Bengal. There is a great view of Kanchenjunga and the spot is paradise for birdwatchers. Food available is warm and of good quality. Cab facilities and free parking is also available. All rooms are well furnished and decorated. All staffs are polite and helpful and service oriented.
Accommodation- Rooms available are of two types. Single rooms for 1-2 person then there is double room with double bed which can accommodate 4-5 person. All the requited facilities like geyser, laundry and housekeeping are available 24 hours. Total 10 rooms in the building.

There are innumerable attractive spots to visit in kalimpong. Historic monuments, snow peek of Kanchenjunga, heritage schools and buildings. For sightseeing one can visit the local gardens and nurseries nearby the hotel. One of the popular and known nursery is Pine View nursery Visitors can also enjoy boating in Nok-dara with beautiful view and weather. Market area is very busy and is full of shops. The Old Bazar is popular among both the locals and tourists. If you are interested in remote places visit villages of Samthar like Pongbu, Yongri to experience firsthand lifestyle. But the most enjoyable of all is just watching nature in a lazy mood. Bonfire and Barbeque are available as cerry on the top.

Neora valley park which is located 44km away from Kalimpong is very attractive for nature lover. One can explore wide diversity of birds, butterflies, flowers and plantations. No other place offers 180-degree view of the Himalayan range like Rishyap This place is located at an altitude of 8,500 feet. Rishyap is full and flora and fauna. There are some mesmerising tiny little hamlets around the town. They ate known for their unique and lovely features. Visit to Zuluk will give wonderful view of lakes, valleys and mountains too. The two famous mountain villages Lava and Loleygoon is famous for dense forest and its sunrise point.
How to reach
New Jalpaiguri is nearest railway station to reach Samthar. Through the NH10 it takes 3.30 hours to reach the place from NJP.
Bagdogra is the nearest airport for the tourist who wants to visit Bagdogra. It takes nearly 2.40 min to reach Samthar from Bagdogra.
Best time to visit
Climate of Kalimpong is very calm and soothing. March – May as spring is beautiful, soothing and can experience flowers blooming. To enjoy autumn and clear view of Kunchenjumgha visit during September- December. If you dont like sitting at room and gazing rain dripping down the window pane, avoid monsoon season as the city experiences rain for almost 100 days in a year. During monsoon there is chances of land sliding and accidental road blocks as well.
