Darjeeling, the most famous hill station of West Bengal is approximately 500 km away from Guwahati, one of the major city in Assam and North-East India. From the banks of Brahmaputra, there are several ways to reach the beautiful place, which are as follows:<\/p>\n

Guwahati to Darjeeling: Through Air:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no airport in proper Darjeeling. The nearest airport is in Bagdogra (Airport code: IXB), which is 67.5 km from Darjeeling, and it takes around 3 hours to reach by car from the airport. There are a number of flights that connect Bagdogra to Guwahati, as it received the status of a major airport recently.<\/p>\n

The average fare ranges between INR 1,100 to INR 7,000 per person, and a direct flight takes around 1 hour to reach the airport. For an approximate idea of the fare and timing, the important flight details are given below, after 3 months from the date of booking.<\/p>\n

Guwahati to Darjeeling: Through Train:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no major rail-station in Darjeeling with direct rail connectivity with Guwahati.<\/p>\n

However, you can take a train to New Jalpaiguri, which is a major station, and then take a car to reach Darjeeling in 4-5 hours. The road is beautiful, with an amazing mountain experience.<\/p>\n

If you want a very unique experience and have time, opt for the Darjeeling-Himalayan railway that is the UNESCO-World heritage site from New Jalpaiguri Jn. to Darjeeling (Starts at 08:30 from NJP station and reached Darjeeling at 15:35 every day.)<\/p>\n

Guwahati to Darjeeling: Through Road<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you want a personalized experience, or, have your own car and want to enjoy nature closely, you may visit Darjeeling by a car from Guwahati, by NH-27 or NH-17. The 1st <\/sup>Route covers 502 km and takes around 11 hours 30 minutes depending on traffic, the 2nd<\/sup> route is more scenic, but it is 529 km, which takes around 13 hours. The second road crosses River Brahmaputra near Goalpara and joins with route 1 near Birpara in West Bengal. If you start early, you can reach Darjeeling in a day, but if you want to take a break for the night, you can find good hotels in and around Malbazar.<\/p>\n
