From the capital of Bihar, Patna City, it is approximately 520 km by road to reach Darjeeling, the most famous hill station of West Bengal.\u00a0 From the alluvial lands on the south bank of the River Ganga, there are several ways to reach the beautiful place, which are as follows:<\/p>\n

Patna to Darjeeling: Through Air:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no airport in proper Darjeeling. The nearest airport is in Bagdogra (Airport code: IXB), which is 67.5 km from Darjeeling, and it takes around 3 hours to reach by car from the airport. There are a number of flights that connect Bagdogra to Patna, as it received the status of a major airport recently.<\/p>\n

The average fare ranges between INR 5000 to INR 7,000 per person, and a flight with one stop in CCU or Kolkata Airport takes around 4 hours to reach the Bagdogra. For an approximate idea of the fare and timing, the important flight details are given below, after 3 months from the date of booking.<\/p>\n

Patna to Darjeeling: Through Train:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no major rail-station in Darjeeling with direct rail connectivity with Patna.<\/p>\n

However, you can take a train to New Jalpaiguri, which is a major station, and then take a car to reach Darjeeling in 4-5 hours. The road is beautiful, with an amazing mountain experience.<\/p>\n

If you want a very unique experience and have time, opt for the Darjeeling-Himalayan railway that is the UNESCO-World heritage site from New Jalpaiguri Jn. to Darjeeling (Starts at 08:30 from NJP station and reached Darjeeling at 15:35 every day.)<\/p>\n

Patna to Darjeeling: Through Road:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no direct bus service available between Patna and Darjeeling. You may take a bus up to Siliguri, and from there, hire a car or share the jeep to Darjeeling. Alternatively, if you own\/hire a car from Patna, you will need to cover around 500 km to reach Darjeeling. There are three major routes. Route 1, the traditional route goes by Purnia and Kishanganj, and then crosses North Dinajpur to reach Jalpaiguri District. It covers 529 km and takes around 14 hours.<\/p>\n

The Route 2 is relatively new, it takes around 12 hours to cross the 517 km road which goes by Darbhanga, and is 517 km long. The shortest and most scenic route is a diversion on route 2, which is 476 km long and it takes around 11 hours to reach Darjeeling, but it crosses the India-Nepal border twice and there are formalities\/permissions required for a car to go this way.<\/p>\n

If you need to take a break, in route 1, Kishanganj is a good option. For route 2 and 3, you can stay around Suphal.<\/p>\n
