According to the Markandya Puran, Raja Suratha arranged Durga Puja for the first time on earth, in this very forest. Our property in here, the Garh Jungle Lodge is a timeless ritzy option for a perfect weekend stay. Located on the bank of the river, you can spend hours feasting your eyes on the beautiful nature that surrounds the place. Green lawns, lined by the red soil roads welcome you here.The lodge has all the in-room modern amenities. Enjoy the scrumptious and freshly cooked meals from the organic kitchen. With the multi-cuisine restaurant, bars, banquet halls, the lodge has it all for a perfect weekend. It is well-suited for family trips, receptions and corporate tours too.

Accommodation: Deluxe Room and Annexe rooms. Only Annexe rooma are pet friendly and extra charges will apply for that. The pool will be functional from summer 2021. In-house experience: Enjoy a relaxing weekend. You do not even need to go out for that. Spend hours on the lush lawn with a hot beverage in hand. Children, have play zones in park, rabbits and badminton courts, so no chance of them getting bored for even a minute. If interested, you can also learn about or take part in organic farming.

Locality exploring: If you are interested, the property can organise package tours for you. In the ‘rustic trails’ tour, you can explore the local culture in the villages. There are beautiful rural architectures in the surroundings that you will simply love. Also, tribal dance sessions can be organised in the evening.

Shyamrupa temple: One of the oldest temples and the major attraction here is the Shyamrupa temple. It is believed to be from the 13th century. This temple houses the 10-armed marble idol of Devi Shyamrupa.

Ichhai Ghosher Deul: Ichhai Ghosher Deul or the tower-temple is an ancient monument, which is in the list of ASI itself. Located on the bank of the river Ajay, the burnt bricks tower is unique for the architecture and engravings.

Durgapur barrage: If you are planning for a leisurely afternoon, you can visit the Durgapur barrage. The main attraction is the dam gate on the Damodar River. You can see water birds in here, or relax in the adjacent park.

Rail: The nearest rail station is Durgapur. From there it is nearly 4 km away, which takes 10 minutes to reach by car.

Air: The nearest airport is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata. 174 km away and takes a car approx. 3 hours to reach the place.

Road: From Kolkata, the property is approximately 176 km away, and it takes around 3 hours 40 minutes to reach by NH2/NH19.

Best Time to Visit Garh Jungle

The best time to visit the place is from November to early March. The temperature stays bearable and there is no rain. You can relax on the campus, go out for a campus or check out the major places around. Whereas the summer months are a bit too hot, but the afternoon on the river banks is a bliss.
