One of the smallest states in India, Sikkim is an empyrean destination with bewitching natural beauty. A part of North-East India, the state is tucked at the top of West Bengal. Surrounded by Nepal, Bhutan and China, this place has everything you can hope from a dream vacation in nature. In this offbeat part of Sikkim, Chakung homestay is a vibrant combination of comfort and tradition. See the majestic sunrise through the cloud cover to start a perfect day sitting on your bed. As the misty veil vanishes, the green hills come out with all the glory. ITs just 3.30 min from both siliguri and Gangtok

The roads that take you to the sightseeing spots are paved with stunning viewpoints and cascading waterfalls. You will be at a loss of words when you stand before the snow-capped mountain peaks or the glacial lakes that freeze completely during winter. If you are a nature lover or want to explore the religious mysticism, Sikkim is a must-visit place for you.

Western Sikkim is often overlooked by the visitors, for the more prominent destinations like Gangtok or Lachung and Yamthung in the north. However, the region has more to offer as it is unsullied by less tourist pressure.

Relax in the spacious rooms with all the modern comfort, or go and see the local sightseeing spots- it is up to you how you want to spend the perfect holiday. Do enjoy the scrumptious meals in here. The dishes are prepared with fresh vegetables and fruits picked from the garden, produced by traditional and organic farming. You can enjoy the complimentary parking facility also, but you have to come down a few steps to reach here.

The mountaintop is just 15 minutes’ walk from here, from where you can see the 360-degree view of the surrounding expansion. On a clear day, you can see up to Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and even the Lord Buddha statue in Namchi. All of these are overshadowed by the mighty Kanchenjungha on a clear morning. You can also walk inside the local villages and see their way of life.

Adventure sports: The whole area is a hub of adventure sports. You can go to bouldering or mountain biking in the nearby hills. In Chakung Durpiney Dara or Bulbuley Dara, you can take part in Paragliding too. If the weather is well, the nearby rivers are great for white-water rafting.

Farm experience: Sikkim is a 100% organic state now, and this property is not an exception too. You can see farming ways in the garden of the property and even can take part in gardening.

Birding and wildlife: The property is near the outskirts of Singalila National Park. Due to a lack of pollution and poachers, wildlife thrives well. Go for a walk in the morning or afternoon to see wildlife and exotic birds. If you are lucky, you can see the elusive red panda too.

Nearby Attractions

Changey waterfalls: Changey Waterfall is located about 57 km away from the property, on the western slope of Pelling district. At a height of about 300 meters, Changey Waterfall is a serene sight. It falls like a white thread as it appears from the green forest and towering hills. The nearby Dentam Bazaar is a good shopping spot.

Winter is chilly and drops near freezing point in the night, but the clear sky in the morning with the snow-capped peaks are reward enough. Monsoon brings poor road conditions, but if you embrace that and visit here, the verdure valley will welcome you with open arms.

  1. My 2 nights 3 day stay at Chakung Village homestay

This place is a hidden gem. The homestay owners are just awesome & very friendly. They made us feel so comfortable & provided us with every possible services & benefits. Not only that they took us to two of nearby hill tops & also took us to their own farm. Not only that they did send some of their own harvested vegetables back home along with some roots of fancy plants.

The food provided was much homely & hygienic.

They best past of my stay was the kind of interaction I had with them. They always extended their gratitude.

I’ve promised another visit. 5 star from my side.
