Tiger Hill is located 11 km from the town above Ghum. This place is best known for its trekking routes and panoramic views of Mt. Everest and Kanchenjunga. Also, the view of the sunrise from this place is spectacularly mesmerizing.

Mahakal Temple is located behind chowrasta and encircled by the mall road, on the ridge of Darjeeling town. The temple ritual is an amalgamation of Buddhist and Hindu religions. Both the purohit and the monk sit side by side and perform Puja in their respective ways.

Ghooom monastery is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the Darjeeling area. It was built in the year 1850. One of the key attractions inside the monastery is a statue of Lord Buddha of 15 feet height.

Senchal Lake:If you like to go for a day picnic in wonderful nature’s surrounding then choose Senchal lake. It is surrounded by mountains from all the side. It’s around 7 km from the town.

Observatory Hill is a hill located near the mall and a beautiful place to watch the surrounding. You can have a view of snow-clad mountains and the magnificent Kanchenjunga from this place.

Happy valley tea garden in Darjeeling is one of the oldest tea gardens. It is 2100 meters above sea level and spread across 177 hectares. Around 1500 people work in this tea garden. It’s 3 km north of the town. You will enjoy the plucking of tea leaves by the workers.

Toy Train:- Visit Darjeeling is incomplete without a joyride in the toy train. Moving at a snail’s pace over the hilly terrain this joyride is highly entertaining.

Darjeeling Ropeway is a cable car circuit where one can view the spectacular landscapes, from the glorious snow-capped mountains to the charming valley replete with verdant tea gardens.

Sandakphu trek: Sandakphu peak is the highest mountain peak in West Bengal. It’s almost near the border of Nepal, located near Singalila National Park.

 

Best Time to Visit

The temperature is mild during summer, around 25 degrees Celsius. Summer months from April to June are great to visit Darjeeling. Also, don’t forget that you may get the opportunity to see snowfall in the winter especially during December end and early January. And of course how can we forget the view of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling which usually comes after monsoon when the sky is clear. Months of October and November can be really good for that.

How to Reach

The fastest way to reach Darjeeling is via Bagdogra Airport. From here cab’s are available and take around 4 hrs to reach Darjeeling. Alternatively by train to NGP Railway station and from there by Cab. Also, you can travel by Darjeeling Himalayan Railway ( Toy Train ) from NJP. Journey through this toy train is a wonderful experience.
