Katwa Jol Bari
A perfect romantic weekend destination - barely 3 hours drive from KolkataKatwa Jol Baari awarded the best homestay by the West Bengal tourism.
Connecting with nature, they say, is one of the most therapeutic alternatives for those stressed out with an ever demanding urban lifestyle. Amidst the humdrum melancholy of the routine life, a weekend gateway providing an opportunity to stroll alongside a river, raft in a nearby lake watch ganges dolphins in their natural habitat is a blessing to behold, more so if it is barely a 3-hour drive from Kolkata.
Katwa Jol Baari offers to the travellers a truly genuine experience of life in a rural Indian set up. There are two waterfront cottages which are well decked with all the modern day amenities from inside. The travellers can also experience spending the chilly nights in tents over the grassland.
The best time to visit would be during the monsoons, when the dark clouds rolling over the green fields, the experience of fishing in the flowing Shibai River offer a never before experience to travellers.

good
Jungle, nature, GREAT food, solitude and NO COVID all in all place .. GO FOR IT
Well to begin with I will , as always keep it short and exactly to the point
It feels really good to get back to traveling after a long time and also reviewing
NOW having said that
WHY SUD U SELECT THIS PLACE ?
Only if u love nature, looking for peace and solitude, love great food and don’t mind traveling the extra mile to get what you want
WHO SHOULD AVOID
People looking at this as a alternative of Digha, Mandarmani or such spots to enjoy with frnds , party crouds and booze lovers
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
Located in a bit remote location the place offers you tons of free oxygen enough to recharge you for month in a city , complete rest to the ears as the only mechanical sound you get is that of a train crossing a river bridge few kilometers away sometimes a day
Its located just in a superbly positioned place by the river and the jungle
There are only 4 rooms which makes this very clear that here peace, silence and solitude is what you pay for and what the owners want as well
FOOD is the second USP of this place. If not for anything else but if u are a food lover then u sud visit this place just once to taste the food. ITS JUST BLISS
Ranging from Luchi alurdom or sada alur torkari in the morning along with fresh fruits from the fruit jungle followed by fish and egg curry in the after noon from their own pond and poultry
And Desi Chicken curry along with roti in the night
Is well complimented with chop muri in the evening
All food items mostly grown here
SPECIAL MENTION
To me the most special attraction of this place remain the OPEN AIR bathrooms and the Koi Pond in front the rooms
Now it’s the time for PRO’s and CONS
PRO’s
Excellent FOOD , really
Maintained rooms
Very helpful and courteous staff
Well place rooms which gives u the exact feel of the place along with the low light settings adding to the charm
The absence of TV in the room was really appreciated as it forces u to be with ur loved ones or just enjoy nature
Options like jungle walk, bird watching fishing adds to the charm
CONS
The location is remote and one needs to have ones own transport to reach , though they provide pick and drop service at a very nomial rates but it needs more better directional guides at ground level
The Outdoor area needs to be bit uplifted as the young and the old will find it really difficult to walk from room to dinning area . Also absence of any covered passage in between these adds to the difficulty specially if u are there in the monsoon’s
The open air toilet design is much appreciated but management needs to take care on how much to cover and how much to leave open. On my findings I was unable to use bathrooms during the rains as the entrance to the bathroom was pouring as it was open area
Absence of room service telephone or even a call bell makes it really difficult to ask for anything the only options left behind is to call (over phone or physically )
The in resort options like walk around the resort or fishing etc are really a USP of the place. But as per me remain bit under used of valued.
Now to conclude with
IT’S A SUPERB PLACE TO SPEND A DAY OR TWO
May be alone , with family or loved ones
But definitely not a place for party crowds or people looking for 7star facility
MUST VISIT
