Unlike North Sikkim, South Sikkim is not so forbidden during the winter season. But the temperature falls below 5°C, and is ideal for people who love chilled weather.
How to reach:
By Air: The nearest Airport is Pakyong Airport, 30 km from Gangtok. But you need to confirm before travelling if it is working at that moment, since often this airport stays closed mainly due to fog and cloud. Our North Bengal Bagdogra Airport however is fully functional and it will take around 4 hours (125.2 km) via NH10 to reach South Sikkim from there.
By Rail: NJP in Siliguri is the nearest railhead, 148 km from Gangtok. It connects all major stations of India. Shared jeeps or buses are easily available from this station.
By Road: Shared jeeps or private vehicles are available from Siliguri. There are buses available too and take around 5-6 hours normally.
