There is no airport in proper Darjeeling. The nearest airport is in Bagdogra (Airport code: IXB), which is 67.5 km from Darjeeling, and it takes around 3 hours to reach by car from the airport. There are a number of flights that connect Bagdogra to Pune, as it received the status of a major airport recently.
The average fare ranges between INR 6,650 to INR 8,000 per person, and a flight with one stop in Kolkata International Airport (CCU) takes around 6-8 hours to reach the airport. Pune to Darjeeling: Through Train:
There is no major rail-station in Darjeeling with direct rail connectivity with Pune.
However, you can take a train to Patna Jn., which is a nearby important station, and then take another train/rent a car to reach Darjeeling in 10 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train to Kolkata, and from there, take a car/train to Darjeeling. The road is beautiful, with an amazing mountain view.

Pune to Darjeeling: Through Road:
As there is no direct train or flights available from Pune to Darjeeling, you may like to travel by car, though it will take a toll on your car and a long time. However, this is a perfect Indian sub-continent long-journey experience.
There are three routes for this, by NH-27, NH-52 and NH-53. Route 1 is the shortest, and it covers 2418 km in 45 hours. You can take rest at night in Indore, Kanpur, Patna and New Jalpaiguri on the way.
Route 2 is a diversion on Route 1 which takes a left turn after Indore and joins Route 1 after Lucknow. It is a perfect Indian heritage tour route which covers 2405 km and takes around 46 hours. You can take breaks in Indore, Lucknow, Patna and New Jalpaiguri.
Route 3 is the shortest i.e. 2267 km but takes the most time i.e. 47 hours. It travels by Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar before entering West Bengal. You can take rest for the night in Nagpur, Ranchi, Kishanganj and New Jalpaiguri on the way respectively.
